Applied Sociology is a course that teaches students about the various social needs of their sick patients. These can include life problems, culture, social organization or disorganization, family and marriage, etc... It’s important to know how to help and assist ailing patients according to the kinds of issues they might be facing during their stay at the hospital. It teaches about various modern practices and how things like culture may not agree with some practices that might actually be very crucial for the treatment of a patient. It teaches students how to convey such information to the family of the patients without disrupting the social organization of the situation. Sociology is a social science that focuses on society, human social behavior, patterns of social relationships, social interaction, and aspects of culture associated with everyday life; and Applied Sociology teaches students about it and how to handle and apply their sociological knowledge into real life circumstances.
