This new and revamped “Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Log Book-cum-Practical Manual” has been customized as per the Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) guidelines for the Indian medical graduate of NMC and covers the practical prescribed for the undergraduates in the subject of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. This book comprises of four sections, namely i. Section 1: Skills dealing with all the competencies as given in CBME curriculum under the topics of “Skills in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology” and “Certifiable Procedural Skills” of GMR 2019. ii. Section 2: Self-Directed Learning (SDL), iii. Section 3: Attitude, Ethics and Communication (AETCOM)iv. Section 4: Simulation Based Teaching (Skill lab), Vertical Integration and Seminar, This is an inclusive manual which will serve to document the student’s academic activities—cases seen, examined, test performed, practical attended and done, etc., as well as SDL, AETCOM, and various other activities (seminars, vertical integration, etc.) as mandated by NMC. The students can be assessed in between and at the end of the semester. This manual contains “shows”, “shows how”, and “performs” exercises for development of skills (psychomotor, communication, team work, and intellectual). The practical sessions will also allow the students to observe a demonstration, assist the performer, perform (demonstrate) in simulated environment, perform under supervision, or perform independently (DOAP). It is presented in a very simple and lucid language. Exercises are self-explanatory and need to be completed with appropriate answers. Proformas and certificates are provided with hypothetical cases (paper case) so that the students take more interest in the subject and discuss with the facilitators.
