Atopic dermatitis in infants and children is prevalent worldwide, with newer studies coming up each year. However, it remains a
disease which significantly decreases the quality of life of the affected children as well as their parents and can remain a cause
of loss of sleep, school days, and economic burden. Treatment is aimed at decreasing dryness of the skin and pruritus and thus
making the quality of life better of the patient. Clinical manifestations of the disease can vary in different countries as also
among children and adults. Recognition of minor features of the disease as well as atypical features is also important. Although
the mainstay of treatment remains moisturizers, topical steroids, and topical calcineurin inhibitors, now there is also
crisaborole, tofacitinib, abrocitinib, other JAK inhibitors, and the biological dupilumab. However, one must also tactfully use
age-old treatment and combine it skillfully with newer advances to improve the life of the affected child. Psychological
counselling is an important part of management.
