Each of the six chapters covers numerous succinct topics, generally in 2 to 3 paragraphs, on focused clinical facets of diabetes. Current concepts of diabetes classification and pathophysiology are well described, at a level of detail appropriate for clinicians. The book excels in the treatment sections, which highlight newer classes of diabetic oral agents and modern technology in the treatment of diabetes with insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring devices. Very recent changes, such as the inclusion of hemoglobin A1C in the diagnostic criteria for diabetes, are not covered. The book is accompanied by a mini CD-ROM with the full set of images from the book organized by chapter. While there are some poor-quality photos, most images are clear.
