The fourth edition of this book will update the readers with the current World Health Organization recommendations, and the advances in technology for screening and diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and early cancer. The author has shared her experience and insights gained over the years of practicing colposcopy to help both the experienced and the trainee colposcopists understand the minutiae and nuances of colposcopy. Chapters 3 and 22 are completely rewritten, and chapter 17 is extensively edited. The book has new colpophotographs and several edits in other chapters. Two new chapters, 24 and 25, have been added. The gynecologist has a central role in the screening services. Chapter 3 is an update on the screening tests for cervical cancer. Chapter 17 deals with the updated management of women with abnormal screening test results. Chapter 22 deals with the utility of immunostaining of cervical smears and biopsies, high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) mRNA tests, and the use of artificial intelligence in screening. The importance of regular audits and meetings of the multidisciplinary team has been emphasized.
