For the first time in India, A Textbook of Histology with a Practical Manual and Colour Atlas of Photomicrographs of actual slides used in the classes, of medical and paramedical students. The book gives the student an access to a brief account of a light microscope and its proper use and an introduction to histotechniques in addition to a comprehensive coverage of topics in General and Systemic Histology. The book is written in a style which will enable the student to study histology independently as each chapter includes learning objectives—to guide the students what to learn from the chapter, followed by a brief description of the subject matter, and a practical exercise with a ''Do it yourself type instructions''. A self-evaluation exercise at the end of each chapter will help the students to judge their knowledge. A colour Atlas with 215 photomicrographs of the slides usually taught in the histology classes and a comprehensive index will enable the student to match the colours seen in the slide under the microscope with the pictures in the atlas.
